Waves Of Dawn

As the sun peeks over a watery horizon.

This sculpture represents the dawning sun as it begins its climb into the sky, perched upon the edge of the rippling seas, as though we are gazing upon its reflection in the waters.

Transforming the rigid wood into elongated globules of water was a fascinating task that slowly became more revealing with each step. It was delightful to take the solid wood, a material that we use to form bridges and houses, and make it look and feel like a softly flowing sea-scape.

This tactile piece is deceptively heavy due to the wavy curves and finish of the wood which give it an airy sense of ebbing and flowing upon the tips of tidal waves.
